onlYoga Parking Update

I am continuing to get lots of questions about the new parking rules around onlYoga. To the best of my knowledge, the city has finished installing meters, numbered spaces and new signage.  Recently the city council agreed to a 30 day moratorium on enforcing the new parking meters.  The moratorium is supposed to begin later this month.  You can read more about the vote in the AJC.

I think going forward, regardless of the moratorium, EVERYONE should take the new parking restrictions into consideration - parking around the studio has changed and I doubt it will change back anytime soon.

Frankly, given the state of our environment, I STRONGLY encourage students to walk or take public transit to onlYoga.  I realize that Atlanta is a "driving city" but we all need to do our part to reduce our carbon footprint and this is a
GREAT opportunity. I walk several blocks, back and forth to the studio almost everyday. If you live a few blocks from onlYoga - WALK!!!  If you have ready access to MARTA, remember that onlYoga is just two short blocks from the Midtown station!

I realize that some of you drive from other neighborhoods or even from outside Atlanta for classes. If you must drive to the studio, there are still lots of free parking options in the midtown neighborhood.  I have made a point to drive around before and after my classes over the last two weeks to survey the parking.  Below are some areas you might consier if you are looking for a free place to park:

1. There are unmetered and unmarked spots between Juniper and Piedmont on the side streets of 6th and 7th.  There are free two hour spots in this area as well.  If you continue down 6th or 7th street to Myrtle, there are even more!

2. There is also parking on Piedmont and Juniper.  Read the signs for restrictions.

3. The building housing the publix on West Peachtree has an entire parking lot that is open and free to the public - there have been lots of open spots there every time I check.

4. If you want to be close to the studio, i.e. less than .5 block, there are meters surrounding the studio on 8th, 7th, Cypress, etc. The meters are $2/hour.  Lots of parking.  You can also park under the Spire or Metropolis for $2 - $3.

Finally, I want EVERYONE to know that all the teachers at onlYoga appreciate the time, money and hard work that our students expend to take classes with us!  We realize that on a busy day trying to find a place to park can be difficult!  Remember, that if you are running late, it is ok to arrive to class a few minutes after we start - there is always a place for you and the door is never locked.  My hope in sending out this email is to provide you with information that will might help alleviate some of the stress around trying to park in one of Atlanta's most popular and beautiful neighborhoods! Remember that every challenge is an opportunity to grow!
